Rio Brazos Chapter History

The Rio Brazos Chapter of Texas Master Naturalist serves the counties of Hood, Johnson, and Somervell and is sponsored by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and the Texas Cooperative Extension (TCE). Our organization was established in the Spring 2005, and we are currently staffed with about 60 members. As with the many other state-wide Master Naturalist chapters, we are a group of citizen volunteers committed to the beneficial management of our natural resources and natural areas through volunteer service and educational outreach. Detailed information about the program is available at The Texas Master Naturalist official website.

If you are interested in joining our chapter or you are seeking our assistance with an environmental activity that we might be able to support,
please contact Maryann Mathews, 817-714-3803 (Cell)

The Texas Master Naturalist of Texas activities are coordinated by AgriLife Extension and Texas Parks and Wildlife. Texas Master Naturalist programs serve all people regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, disability or national origin.
